Statement of The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz Regarding the Recent Iranian Allegations Against the Movement and the Australian Government
Monahdhon – Canberra
On Sunday, Tasnim News Agency, which is closely affiliated with the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, published an extensive report condemning Australia’s measures against Iran.
In an attempt to divert attention from Australia’s legitimate accusations, the Iranian outlet falsely accused the The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz and its leadership of terrorism, in yet another desperate effort to target the movement.
In response, The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz issued a statement addressing these distortions and fabrications propagated by Iran against both Australia and the movement through its extremist media outlets.
Amid the ongoing media campaign waged by the Iranian regime against The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz, and its relentless dissemination of baseless accusations aimed at discrediting the legitimate struggle of the Arab people of Al-Ahwaz before international public opinion, the movement affirmed that these claims are nothing more than a desperate attempt to cover up the century-long crimes of the Persian occupation. Accordingly, the movement reiterates its unwavering stance on the Ahwazi cause and emphasizes the following:
The essence of the conflict between our Arab people of Al-Ahwaz and Iran is an existential struggle against a Persian occupying state that has usurped Al-Ahwaz since 1925, committing the gravest forms of repression, ethnic cleansing, executions, and forced displacement. Since its establishment, The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz has been systematically targeted by Tehran’s smear campaigns, falsely branding it as “terrorist” in order to mislead the international community and suppress our people’s legitimate right to self-determination.
In July 2020, Iran escalated its targeting of the The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz by issuing illegitimate arrest warrants against its leadership, foremost among them the Head of the Movement, Mr. Methaq Abdullah. These unfounded allegations were repeated by Iran’s former Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in his call with Australia’s Foreign Minister on March 22, 2023, where he falsely claimed that the movement’s leaders were present in Australia under the guise of supporting terrorism. Today, the same accusations resurface in a fierce propaganda campaign, again labeling The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz as “terrorist.” We take these allegations seriously and caution against any treacherous Iranian attempts to target our cadres and leaders in exile.
The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz is a national liberation movement committed to international law and the regulations of the countries in which its members reside, operating solely within a legitimate political, media, and human rights framework. At the same time, the movement affirms that resisting the Iranian occupation on the soil of Al-Ahwaz is a legitimate and inalienable right guaranteed by international law, which cannot be revoked or denied.
The movement calls upon the governments of Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands to shoulder their responsibilities in protecting its members residing on their territories from any political or security targeting by the Iranian regime, which has persistently pursued dissidents abroad through unlawful means.
Furthermore, the movement declares its readiness to dispatch an official delegation to the International Criminal Court to prosecute the Iranian regime and hold it accountable for its false claims and its crimes against the Arab people of Al-Ahwaz, within the framework of a fair and transparent trial before the international community.
The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz also warns the Iranian regime of the grave consequences of any targeting of its leadership or cadres, whether inside or outside Al-Ahwaz, affirming that any treacherous attack will not pass unanswered, but will be met with a response commensurate with the crimes of the occupation.
At the same time, the movement values the courageous step taken by the Australian government in expelling the Iranian ambassador and severing diplomatic ties with the rogue regime in Tehran, considering this decision a significant and advanced stance in confronting Iran’s hostile policies and its sponsorship of terrorism.
In conclusion, The Renaissance Pioneer’s Movement for Liberation of Al-Ahwaz reaffirms its commitment to continue its national, political, media, and diplomatic struggle, and to remain steadfast in its covenant with its people until the Persian occupation is defeated and full independence is achieved.
Yours sincerely
Methaq Abdullah
