Ahwazi Political Prisoner Mokhtar Al-Boushokah, Serving Life Sentence, Given Additional 10 Years and Forcibly Transferred
Monahdhon
In a new step aimed at intensifying pressure on Ahwazi political prisoners, the judiciary of the Iranian occupying state has issued another heavy sentence against Ahwazi political prisoner Mokhtar Al-Boushokah, who is already serving a life sentence.
According to incoming reports, the Ahwazi political prisoner—who has been imprisoned since 2011 without receiving a single day of leave—has been sentenced in a newly fabricated case opened by security agencies to an additional 10 years and one day of discretionary imprisonment.
Details of the Fabricated Case and New Charges:
The ruling was issued while Al-Boushokah was already serving his life sentence. Security bodies opened a new case accusing him of “communicating from inside prison with released political prisoners.”
Reports indicate that the detention order in this case was issued in December 2025 and has been extended twice so far, reflecting the intelligence agencies’ persistence in fabricating further cases against the prisoner.
Transfer to Arak and Torture in Security Detention:
Pressure against Al-Boushokah has not been limited to judicial rulings. On 27 January 2026, he was suddenly transferred, along with political prisoner Nazem Brayehi, from Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz to the Central Prison in the Iranian city of Arak.
Informed sources reported that prior to the transfer, he had been moved in mid-December 2025 to a Security Police detention facility (PAWA), where he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, leading to a serious deterioration in his health condition, particularly as he suffers from a hernia.
Conviction of Another Defendant in the Same Case:
Within the framework of the same security scenario, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahwaz sentenced Arab poet and cultural activist Mostafa Haliji, another defendant in the same case, to 13 years of discretionary imprisonment, in addition to a ban on leaving the country.
